About Us: Senior Staff Bios

René Albors - President & CEO

René Albors always aspired to follow in the footsteps of his father, a prominent Puerto Rican entrepreneur, and carve out his own path in the business world. He earned a B.A. in communications from Purdue University and gained experience in retail, advertising and insurance before finding his niche within the interpretation and translation market.

While working as a licensed insurance adjuster early in his career, Mr. Albors was asked to interpret during a deposition. Although he and the client both spoke Spanish, he struggled to communicate the intricacies of the case as well as the differences in their dialects. Finally, the attorney intervened and excused him from continuing. The humbling experience taught Mr. Albors a valuable lesson: It is crucial to have an interpreter with the right dialect, terminology and expertise. Yet, it also revealed that the workers’ comp industry had a specific need – one that he believed he could fulfill.

Mr. Albors launched into researching the field and all the organizations involved with language training. As he compiled a database of industry-specific interpreters, he also contacted professional translating and interpreting organizations, as well as others specifically related to the legal and medical fields.

In 1988, Mr. Albors incorporated his interpretation and translation company, Albors & Associates. A decade later, he started Alnet Transportation to provide transportation to and from medical appointments for workers’ compensation patients. Over the years, Albors & Associates has diversified to provide interpretation and translation services in more than 215 languages and dialects for a diverse array of industries.

Driven by a commitment to community, Mr. Albors served as Director of various organizations, including the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He was also appointed to represent his own district in the Orange County Planning and Zoning Commission. In 2005, Governor Jeb Bush appointed Mr. Albors to the Board of Governors.

Included among Mr. Albors’ many recognitions is the 1999 Don Quijote Award from the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund for Small Business of the Year. He also published Florida Hispanic magazine, which profiles companies dedicated to building commercial bridges in multi-cultural communities.

Mr. Albors’ childhood dream was to explore the United States, so he promised himself, “Before I leave this world, I want to make sure that I see every state in the nation.” Every summer, he along with his wife Theresa and sons Sebastian, Shane, Nicholas and Daniel, crisscross the country in a 38-foot recreational vehicle – which of course has a motorcycle hitched to it.
